The NDIS gives money to people who qualify based on their own needs.

Everyone has different goals, but some of them might be to get and keep a job, make friends, or take part in a local community activity. Participants in the NDIS decide what kind of help they get when they get it, and who gives it to them.
What kinds of help are paid for?
- The NDIS may pay for the following types of help for participants:
- personal things you do every day
- so they can take part in the community, social, economic, and daily life activities that require transportation
- Help at the workplace to help a participant get or keep a job in the open or supported labor market
- therapeutic help, including help with behavior
- help with housework so that the participant can keep their home in good shape.

How do I choose and control my funded supports?
You can choose and decide how to use the money for support your plan. You can choose how the help is given and which service providers you work with.
In some cases, the NDIA or someone else will be in charge of managing the money for support. For example, if there is a risk to a participant that is too great.
Other services for the public and government
People who don’t qualify for the NDIS can still get help to use community and other government services.
The NDIS can help connect people with disabilities, their families, and caregivers to community and other government services. It can also give them information.
