Phoenix has a lot more to offer than just beach vacations. Make the most of each area of the town’s strengths. Then go shopping in Scottsdale and party in Tempe. Then go hiking in Carefree after visiting the museums in downtown Phoenix. In Mesa, see a major league baseball spring training game before heading to Glendale to watch football and hockey. Willing to book affordable flights to Phoenix, then check How to Book Allegiant Airlines Flights.
A trip up to Camelback Mountain and a visit through the Desert Botanical Garden are other must-dos. The city’s outdoor and indoor retail centers are ideal for laid-back vacationers. If you’re feeling lucky, you can try your luck at one of the reserve casinos. Consider taking an all-terrain vehicle trip into the desert for a thrilling adventure (one of the best Arizona tours).
Desert Botanical Garden
Flora may appear to be the last thing on your mind when you think about the desert. Thousands of species of cactus, trees, and flowers from all over the world can be found in the Desert Botanical Garden. The brightly colored plants in the garden contrast sharply with the Sonoran Desert’s cinnamon-red buttes, and numerous hiking trails, such as the Plants and People of the Sonoran Desert and the Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Loop, allow you to experience the region’s natural wonders in the same way that early settlers did. The Desert Botanical Garden also provides a variety of activities, such as cooking demos and outdoor concert series.
Musical Instrument Museum
One of my top five favorite museums in the world, as well as in the valley, is this one-of-a-kind museum. And that’s putting it mildly! It’s the world’s only global musical instrument museum, and it’s beautifully curated. The museum does an outstanding job of bringing instruments from all over the globe to life.
When you purchase a ticket, you will be given a headset. Then, as you go around the rooms that reflect the world’s continents and regions, read about the people and learn about the instruments while seeing them being played. It’s a cultural experience as well as a music education, with something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
Camelback Mountain
Camelback Mountain, one of Phoenix’s tallest peaks, is one of the city’s most scenic hiking destinations. The 1.2-mile (extremely steep) Echo Canyon Trail leads to Camelback’s summit, which stands at over 2,700 feet and affords spectacular views of Phoenix and Scottsdale. If you want a little easier hike, the 1.5-mile Cholla Trail on the mountain’s east side has a more moderate rise, at least until you get close to the peak. The Bobby’s Rock Trail, for example, is one of the numerous beginner-friendly trails that circle Camelback’s base. Camelback Mountain hiking is best done early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the desert heat is less oppressive.
Taliesin West
Frank Lloyd Wright adored the Sonoran Desert, and he placed his winter home and school on here 600 acres at the foot of the McDowell Mountains. Wright built apartments, studios, and theatres with the help of his art and architecture students, using local materials to help the camp blend in with its environment. This National Historic Landmark is still being used as a classroom for aspiring painters and architects. Recent visitors praised the attraction’s beauty as well as the tour guides, describing it as an “architectural gem” in the desert.
Arizona Science Center
The Arizona Science Center, where interactive displays teach kids about anything from electricity to weather patterns to outer space, is a great place to escape the sweltering Phoenix weather. Sound, gravity, and psychology are among the other disciplines addressed by the center’s four floors of exhibits. A family-friendly, educational experience is also available in an IMAX Theater.
Recent visitors praised the activities on offer, particularly the temporary exhibits. However, some people, particularly families, thought the tickets were too expensive. Reviewers also suggested purchasing tickets in advance online to prevent large lineups at the entrance. Pack your Bags for a vacation and search How to Get Allegiant Cheap flights.
