Last weekend, GamesBeat’s Mike Minotti and Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb announced a Tuesday Nintendo Direct date.
Emily Rogers, a Nintendo insider, confirmed on Famiboards that a Direct will be on Tuesday morning, PT.
Rogers said she didn’t know the Direct’s format or substance and speculated that the early US start time may indicate a “Mini”-style event.
“The Direct is still happening, according to my sources,” she stated. “But I’m also hearing Tuesday’s Direct will air early in the PDT morning” (US time), not tonight, Tuesday (US time). Nintendo Direct: Why is this significant?
Due to the fact that “General” Directs are usually shown towards the beginning of the evening in the US, at around midnight in Europe, and in the morning in Japan. Usually between 2 and 3 PM PDT. Therefore, the early morning time period seems quite Mini-esque.
Rogers continued by mentioning that a general Nintendo Direct had last broadcast in the early morning of 2018. That is why she was keeping her expectations in check.
Fair enough, though, it doesn’t mean that Tuesday’s Direct will be a “mini.” Trends and patterns can always fail. The marketing team at Nintendo is free to disregard its own policies whenever they like (even if it is geometry dash). I can confirm that this Direct will air Tuesday morning (US PDT).
Jeff Grubb said that the Tuesday Nintendo Direct was likely due to this week’s Tokyo Game Show on Thursday.
Grubb said this weekend that he still believes Minotti and Grubb about the planned direct.
